I will be doing my OFHG soon and always take photos of my repair jobs and will report any tips I come up with for difficult parts.

Look for YouTube video that shows the full procedure you might just be missing a step. I'm guessing just something in the way that needs to be removed first like changing intake cam sensor you have to remove the vanos solenoid first.
