Your goal is going to be too be to use a stiff rod (that's what she said) and poke in the hole (too easy).
Poke right next to the ball on the end of the cable (or on the lever that may be missing the ball).
It will be a simple job if you have an inspection camera to see what your are doing.
If it gets too frustrating drill another hole in the plastic about an inch up from the existing one so you have a direct shot.
