Well, my GLW and I are just back home from a 2,000km summer road trip - basically a lap of New Zealand's South Island.
We started with a day trip across the very south of the island, East to West...
Then a day's driving up the West Coast, followed by another day back to the East and then into the Marlbough Sounds at the top of the island...
The next couple of days were spent with good friends and family, boating, fishing, hiking and relaxing...
We had the BEST fresh Blue Cod Sashimi for lunch after that trip...
Another two enjoyable days driving back down the East coast (with a lunch stop at Kaikoura) saw us home safe.
The X5 never missed a beat (as long as you don't count blowing a front strut/shock at around the 1,400km mark!), returned around 34mpg (6.9L/100km) for the trip and was a great place to spend the best part of a week.
Now to replace those front struts...
