2005 X5 Navigation/Map CD not loading

Just bought 2005 X5 4.4. Engine is impressive. I have a few things to sort through, so I will post them separately. This is about the navigation CD.

I have the MK IV Navigation Unit. I have tried updating the software, and it would never load.

I bought a NavTech Map, that is supposed to be compatible with my unit. I checked with seller, and he says it is an OEM disc, not a copy.

A couple of things have happened. One time it loaded, and it showed a map of the entire United States. When you tried to scale down, you got a yellowish background, and no roads or land marks. Nothing. Scale back out and nothing.

After that, it would either not load at all, saying there was a CD/DVD error in reading, or would have that yellowish screen with no roads or landmarks at any level.

I bought a CD cleaner, but I don't think they are effective on this because you cannot fast forward to the tracks where the cleaners are.

The only thing I have not tried is to blast the unit with some compressed air. I will try that, but I am doubtful.

I have seen people that have broken down the unit and cleaned the lense, or even replace the laser, and I am think I am too old and tired to do that. I could probably go to pull a part and pick one of cheap, but it cannot be very expensive to fix because you can buy a whole new Android or CarPlay radio for 200-250 with navigation.

I would be satisfied with the old technologie, because I am going to stick an Ipad or a Tablet up there for maps, and to load music, using a couple of those vent holders that have strong magnets.

If you have any suggestions, I would appreciate them.
