I on the other hand bought a new (not OEM) E53 wiper arm and I'm having the same issue I still have the old arm in the trunk. Paint coming off + some surface rust were the reasons I decided to replace it.
Call me crazy but I actually think the E53 wiper arm suits the E53 better. It's an old, mean, bulky barge, no place for subtleties
