Ah, yeah my N52 does not sound like that. I was wondering if you ever diag'd that sound. So it's the inside DISA? Pricey little bugger.
But yes, I can't imagine trying to reach between and behind the OFH/alternator area with the intake in place. Here is a good writeup that assisted. For an E60 (mine is an E61) but the process should be similar.
