I would (and still) put earplugs in when going to bars. Friends would tease me and I would ask: "is that loud to you?" They would always answer yes. My reply: well (because I protect my ears), well it's literally twice as loud to me. (I can hear at least 10dB better than most adults and prob 20 (4x as loud) as people will minor hearing loss
