My recollection is that grit and dirt leads to the plastic spindle drive nut eventually cracking... but its been a while since I paid attention to this.


Ive always thought Id replace mine with gas struts when it failed. 10 yrs and 170 it hasnt failed. Plus who knows if there IS a gas strut interchange!
