Hello Cognoscenti,

I have an 01 E53, plain jane mirror, no self-adjusting functions. I once had an X3 with the compass feature and often miss it, plus it would be great to get a rear parking cam. Has anyone retrofitted a mirror like this to their X5?

I foresee two challenges with installation: adapting the OEM mirror mount, and cleanly getting power/data to it.

Any anecdotes to share?
