You said you confirmed the used one works? If you didn't clear the code it won't try to release the E interlock (e must mean sport in German).

Did you hear motor buzzing sounds in the original GWS? That's what mine did just before it died. Crazy thing after months it came back to life for one day. Yesterday! That was a lot of fun for one drive!

So: clear the code. If the motor for e interlock doesn't respond you can't clear the code.

I'm not sure about coding. My scanners did not show an option for it. Wife's got e70 also and I was considering swapping to see if coding is required.

Do you still have the original? I would love to be able to pull apart a not in use copy to find that motor info before I deactivate my car to do it.
