I realized this time that it was the odometer offset, probably to make the odo read 0 miles when it got to the dealer lot. But the speedo behavior never changed, as far as I could tell, and that's why. Had it in my mind that I could figure it out somehow.

If you got all the way through the thread I referenced, the last word was that we thought we might have it figured out...
TLDR? - I chickened out and haven't (yet) tried what may in fact be the fix. After the coding failure and subsequent re-flash, my IKE and all systems appear to be working fine but to this day I still occasionally get this when I read error codes...
