Thanks for the reply.
I also found that bulletin and started with the smoke test. I put the smoke before the turbo charger for convenience... easier to get to... and I saw smoke coming out from under my intake on the right side of the motor (right side as you are looking at the engine). I pulled off the intake and saw that the seals were leaking.
I replace the seals and cleaned up some of the oil with a hose and dish soap.
I have had that manifold off many times for other issues...injector, CBU cleaning, glow plug, injector...ect. So I am kicking myself to tell you have I snapped off one of the intake bolts. Usually I just do these by feel but since I had new seals I grabbed the torgue wrench and read daNM as NM because some gunk was covering the "da".
In any case....the code is still there the car goes into reduced power along with a 004A14 glow plug control. I assume that the glow plug issue might be from my jostling something loose or the water I sprayed that side of the engine off with?
I replaced a glow plug controller on my old 335d (same engine) 6 years ago...I think they fail often. Just suspicious that I would get this code right after working down there.
As for the 4862 4B81...ect The service bulletin says to use ISTA do test the charge temp sensor. I have ISTA but I have never used any of the test plans or any real diagnostics. I am always worried about missing things up in there since I am not familiar with the program. I will probably snoop around in there with it tonight. Any links to vids or instruction on how to use the diagnostics?
thanks again for the help.
