How are you finding the vortex breather? I have noticed smoke on start up, checked my turbos, i was about to go the route of a Provent occ, but it seems like it brings on it's own set of issues, especially during winter months. Has the vortex breather solved the smoke issue? Also how much of an improvement in terms of dynamics has that rear diff with the icm module proved to be? I have one of those diffs, but i just upgraded to front and rear 3:15 diffs; debating if to get the harness and modules and install this diff (mine is from an F85).
Glad you enjoy the build thread. I have thought making some videos but it never really comes to fruition. My forum posts could essentially be used as a scripts to make the videos of but video editing would probably really be a time suck. No doubt I spend some time snapping photos and making forum posts but creating video content, at least the way I would want to do it, seems like so much more effort. Who knows, once I get my garage remodel done and get back to my touring project I will have a nice space to record some videos, never say never!

I removed my Provent when I installed my hybrid turbo as I THINK that was the cause of my turbo smoking. It haven't reinstalled to confirm. With my stock PCV system on I will get a little smoke on start up and at initial idle but I am also now in CO where it is much colder than San Diego. The only other time I have noticed smoking is when on long 4,000+ft descents out of the mountains. The first time I hit the gas after coasting for a long time there is a noticeable puff of smoke. Honestly both scenarios seem fairly normal considering the unfiltered state of my engine. There is probably room to optimize it but as you noted changing the PCV system brings on new challenges.

My torque vectoring diff is not wired up and fully functional, it's essentially a beefy open diff at the moment. I have the external wiring harness and modules but haven't tackled building the wiring harness for the inside of the vehicle. I would love to get around to it eventually but TBH it's not on the priority list compared to other projects. So many projects so little time.

Ah, but the thought of being able to flash the X5 to RWD and have a torque vectoring LSD to play around with would be awesome.
PS: I wonder if there is any tuning you can do to the rear diff since it is electronic. Ex, you could have a torque-vectoring (stock?) tune which would be best for getting around corners but have a second tune that makes the diff act more like a traditional locking/LSD.
