You'd have to take the bearing caps off to know that's a pretty big effort.

If you have time you can get an oil sample tested that would be what I would do.

If the price was right and an audio recording and knock sensors find no significant issue and of course you can't hear any knock at all, I would buy the car. I would pay more if they would let me get the oil tested first. Less if not but passed all the tests above.

It's not difficult to replace the rod bearings on n55. My x5 is at 170k and I'm aiming to preemptively replace them before 200k. Prob summer 24 since summer 24 doing valve cover.

The week oil pressure for a couple weeks acutally is a sign it was low not nonexistent. Don't know the history of the car but it sounds like the classic serpentine belt ingestion issue.
