I have a non-pano sunroof that had the sunroof "shade" stuck in place. I needed to check the sunroof for function, and clean it and prevent future leaks https://xoutpost.com/bmw-sav-forums/...ide-floor.html, but tried for days to open it without success. I was afraid to use the power switch, as I'd never even been able to look up there, so I needed the shade pulled back first (to prevent more damage).
andrewwynn assured me that the shade was manual, so I used both hands and jerked it open (finally). It seems the previous owner had used too much headliner glue, and that was what was holding the shade closed.
- 1) I got it open,
- 2) repaired the headliner that was pulled loose, then
- 3) cleaned the sunroof drains,
- 4) lubed and tested the sunroof operation,
- 5) removed the fuse,
- 6) sealed the sunroof glass with paint protection film, and
- 7) slid the shade closed for the final time (under my ownership...I hate sunroofs)
