Welp, thx to the Bentley manual and bringing my toolbox on this month-long work road trip, I fixed it. The two 8mm bolts that clamp the glass to the regulator were very loose, and I guess the heat here made the glass expand enough to stick a little in the guides and pull it out of the regulator; it'd been clunking since I bought this beast in May. Re-seated the glass and tightened the two bolts. Done.
The plastic clips that go thru the hole in the glass are still intact, but I think I'll replace them anyway as long as I've got the door panel off (still) as I've got a pair in my toolbox. The assorted door panel fasteners, well not so much... but enough are intact to put it back on tomorrow.
Why is every hex bolt so far on this thing 8mm... I have ONE 8mm socket, ¼" drive. I need a 3/8" and a deep one. Hey at least the AC is dealing well with this stupefying heat/humidity.
