My '01 X5's a clunker by BMW standards, but to me, it's a survivor that I've always wanted, but never actually thought I'd ever have. I just acquired it about 20 years later than I had wished.

As-is, the running gear will probably outlast me (all systems are semi-restored vs me on my 73'rd b-day today), but the exterior/interior aren't so great. I would call it a 50-50 car: looks and sounds great, 50 yards away at 50 mph. At night. In the rain.

I look better at a distance in the dark, too, I'm told.
