I think
EODguy means
Hall Effect sensor... which is not what the interior motion sensor is.
Hall effect sensor are used in the door latches in place of micro-switches (while they are more complex to implement, they are more reliable).
The interior motion sensor is a plain old ultra-sonic system.
But, yeah, as
EODguy says, these can also give false alarm triggers.
