Added, P.S.#2 (deleted P.S.#1): I can't find any cheap "brushed" fan to try my test on, so I'm going to order a 10"-14" generic electric radiator fan from E-bay, to test with (about $11-15). If I don't fry that "brushed" fan (my controller is not meant for brushless fans), I was planning on using it as a simple add-on to my wife's '98 GMC pickup... if the cheap fan survives, I'll install it and buy a better one when it fails, eventually.

All my projects go like this one...one thing leads to another, but sooner or later, most get completed...sorta.[/URL]
I've got all the parts ready for the directional switch test (to find out which position is correct), there's no need to ever reverse the direction, so it will be disabled after the test.

I was going to test today, but I mowed the yard, and contracted with an itinerant tree-trimmer working next door. to come back tomorrow and cut a few dangerous limbs for me. I'll do the test tomorrow or the following day.

I found a "brushed" fan on the Summit Racing website, that actually described it as "brushed" (which I need for the test. I couldn't find such a description for any other cheap fan, on Amazon or E-bay, and I suspect they were probably "brushless" fans (due to their thinness). Anyway, I bought a 12" puller (reversible to pusher) ProComp/Speedmaster PCE185.1005, which I'll use (if it survives the test) on my wife's GMC. I've already test-fitted it, and have a harness on hand to hook it up.

I paid about $27, which is better to lose than the $175 Flexalite in the X5, but I'm hoping the test is successful, and the cheap fan is resilient to switching directions (of course, I'll allow it to stop, first). I attached short leads to my fan speed controller, and connected it to the fan; the pos & negative input wires to the controller will be hooked up to the battery cable (with fuse) that I have hooked up to my B+ and B- jumper posts, underhood (I'll do the real wiring for the controller, later, if it too, survives the test).

PS: It's been a long time since I bought anything from Summit Racing, after I quit dragracing in 2007-8, and sure wish that they had opened this Arlington, Texas location back in the day. Of course, I would've stopped by there 2-3 times a week, on my way home, and would've bankrupted myself, in doing so. I've not gone there in the few years they've been open, because of my former desire for go-fast parts, but I saved alot in shipping by picking it up in person. My wife went with me, to ensure that I wouldn't buy anything I didn't need. Rats! By the way, after I ordered the fan online, I belatedly found it on Amazon, but priced at $44.
