You are correct. The N62 arrived with XDrive with the LCI in 2004. FWIW, I think age may also be a factor on the valve stem seals. We had to do our '04 4.4 N62 last Fall at less than 60k miles. That one stung a little. My '04 4.8 N62 waited until right at 100k around 2017 or so.

I'm at 189k now, and she does get thirsty for oil, but no smoke at idle. I would guess about a quart refill is needed every 1,200 miles depending on driving style or if I have anything in tow.
