Typically low end power issues are VANOS related as above poster mentioned but regardless, the comparison to a newer hybrid electric car will make even the healthiest E53 seem like a dud.

I’ll check out the decel characteristics when the cruise control is switched off. I’ve keyed in on the transmission though due to the hydroelectric generator turbine whine from under the car. Not always in normal mode, sport mode definitely brings the whine out.
