If your e53 is old enough it won’t pins to light up the 21w filament on both lights. Add a jumper in these two places and get 4 brake lights vs. 2 (and still have lights on both sides when a lamp fails). Serb404 has a 2004, so this brake lamp mod doesn't apply - the LCI has single filament lamps in all four locations.
The fix for the failing lamps holder DOES still apply!
