Thanks for confirming.

What I'm saying is for each drain and fill of the radiator, instead of draining the radiator from below first, and then filling it with (distilled) water:

With two people:

1. The person at the expansion tank removes the bleed screw and puts the funnel with a shutoff value on the tank, and fills it with water with its shutoff valve closed. That person has additional bottles of water ready to keep topping off the funnel.

2. The person below at the drain plug slowly opens the plug until coolant starts to drain.

3. The person at the top opens the valve on the funnel at this point and monitors the level in the expansion tank to make sure it stays full, adjusting the valve as necessary and keeping the funnel full with the available bottles of water.

4. The person monitoring the drain monitors the color of the fluid coming out of the drain. When it becomes clear, he closes the drain plug and tells the person above.

5. The bleed procedure is done as a caution to see if any air has managed to enter, at least the first time. As I understand it, this is the key in position two and the heat at the highest setting with the fan on low for about five minutes, or until bubbles stop coming up the expansion tank (with the bleed screw off).

6. The radiator cap and bleed screw are put back on, then engine is turned on for five to ten minutes to circulate the coolant, revving the engine periodically to 1,500 or 2,000 rpm.

Repeat steps 1 to 6 about four or five times, until the coolant comes out clear at the start of step 2.

I'm not sure if the drain plug can be removed completely or only partially. That is, if filling the expansion tank with the funnel can keep up with the amount coming out of the drain with the plug fully out.

I don't see how air would enter the system with this technique, but I haven't read about it anywhere. Thoughts?
