Well Ive got over 40 vehicles with agm batteries in them and the only ones that had short lifespans with the agm batteries were my bmw's with the hair brained battery computers.
Also the system was never designed for battery life. The battery was used as a crutch to improve epa ratings. Bmw put money and effort into it to raise the cars miles per gallon numbers plain and simple.
Same reason for the stupid idea of having the car cut off at stop signs. Emissions and mpg ratings.
I haven't had the lifepo4's in there long enough to know how they will fair longterm. I had gone thru 2 sets of batteries with agm batteries before unplugging the battery computer. The post agm lifespan increased but they had a good bit of time with the thing plugged in so not a earth shattering difference. The remaining bmw's that have the battery computer stuff and agm's are still going since removing the wire for the ibs.
It's also nice not having my dashcams freak out and shut off thinking I had cut the car off from the lower voltage caused by the battery computer while idling.
If it hadn't of been for the dashcams acting up when they had the auto off feature set to on I probably never would of figured it all out.
