Thanks. I might have had the wrong part number actually I'm not sure.
The guide studs is a great idea. I've done that for the transmission and it is huge. I would do that for this too now that the idea exists. it's a little heavy, and you have to line it up surgically so you don't nick that o-ring.
Also be mindful if there's a wire that runs in between the diff and the oil pan. The f30 had the oil level sensor wire running between them. I didn't realize this and torqued the diff up. And then I couldn't get the wire plugged in, and had to take it all off over a stupid wire. I don't think the e53 was 6 cylinder had the wire that way, but I don't quite remember, something to be mindful of, on at least some x drive cars.
