'03 4.4 V8. At 93k miles the torque converter broke and created a problem in the transmission. Opened it up, cleaned it out and replaced all wear items. At 135k miles I decided to pull the engine, do the chain guides and reseal it. Last year in the fall the transmission broke again, the famous clutch cage problem (can't get the OEM item from ZF anymore). Over the years replaced all the suspension related items (some more than once) and multiple front drive shaft boots. Had to do the front drive shaft fix. And a whooooole bunch of other niggles. Really need to redo the headliner and finish the re-mod of the headlights. But, it never left us stranded. I do a 1k round trip to Toronto ON in it every March since '23. Occasionally use it to go skiing at a mountain 3 hours away.

We have a Cayenne that has been super reliable and is not too different in size, the E70 felt bigger somehow. (The E70 we had is a far better vehicle than the E53 but it failed even more frequently.)

Would I sell? I do not strictly need the E53 but if sits in the driveway it always seems to be the one my wife grabs the keys for. My kids love it to go in to town. I still enjoy driving it and I'd probably want more for it than anyone is willing to pay. So, it is unlikely I'll part with it any time soon.
