I'm a little leery of the multiple ebay vendors selling what claim to be made-in-Germany Conti parts. If it was one guy, maybe, but there's quite a few and they all seem to be based in New Jersey for some reason. Looks sketchy.

Turns out I had a $330 gift card balance I'd forgotten about so went ahead and ordered the OE BMW part. I do have some steel zip ties bought some time ago per your advice, so I will apply that fix to the new part.
