At 17, you wouldn't get insurance on an M3 (in England) or an X5. Not unless you owned your own insurance company. We have some pretty tight rules here - insurance companies wouldn't touch you on M cars if you were younger than 25, some even state 30 and then there is an excess of £1000 (the first part of any claim that you would have to pay).

off topic but i came for vacation to the uk this past sumer and it was a lot of fun . so many nice cars there....  . u're living at a great place.
