The extender stays in place all the time. It works just like the seat belt latch. The module thinks the seat belt is locked in. Sometimes, passengers unclick it with the seat belt. I know because the ding ding starts when I drive. I remove the extender and put it back into the seat latch. My bypass emulator was bought off eBay. I think it was from a European company. In five years, I've had no passgenger SRS codes pop up.
Before ordering an emulator, check the connection under the passenger seat. It's either two or three wires. Order the correct wired emulator.
