I used Permatex Ultra Black RTV gasket maker. I always wanted a little flex in whatever adhesive I used gluing back the plastic onto the E53 door panels. I felt if the adhesive was too solid, the plastic might break.

Using the Ultra Black, I was able to subsequently remove door panels and not have the plastic come off again.
