I have opened my hood after long drives and never found it surprisingly hot- same as X5Jay- cooler than expected. I'd encourage checking into it. My 740 had some issues with heat build-up that didn't show on the gauge, and that ended up being a complete rebuild of the cooling system... $3300 later. Not an experience to be repeated!
