Unfortunately no, as once they are in the headlight you don't notice it. Fairly easy to do. All I did was line up the edge of the tape with the center "seam" of the ring on the inboard side and then trimmed it flush with a knife. Cleaned the assembly well with an alcohol pad and put them in. If you are going to use tape it does add a little to the circumference of the ring so it will be a snug fit. Just be careful not to bend or put pressure on the rings as they are VERY FRAGILE! I went this direction so that if I ever need to replace a ring it will be easier to remove. It seems as though most used a silicone adhesive to put them in. Patience is the key.
