Joel, call the MTA on that one. You may want to drop your NH EZPass for a Maine one, which would essentially be the same, except you can get the commuter account on that one. You can also have a regular debit-style account on the same pass for use in other states (NH< MA< NY< etc.). I know out of staters can get a Maine EZPass. Residency is not a requirement.
