You said you had the "auto mute" of the S1 set. You must have the muted volume turned way down, so as not to notice it at all. I just installed my V1/S1 last week, and chose to put the muted volume at "just below annoying", but still easily audible. I also put the speed for the auto mute at 36 mph.

Just some thoughts. If you don't review bad experiences critically, you are condemned to repeat them, right?
