Seems to me you might want to know what those existing law
are before you conclude they don't need to be changed. The basic argument in favor of immigration reform is that the current laws are screwed up. Why do you think that argument is wrong?

If there's more to it than "they're bad because they're illegal", please tell me what it is. That is the only argument I can see in your post. Illegal aliens are ILLEGAL, they are not "law-abiding" they are equivalent to felons, they didn't come here legally, etc. If there's another argument in there somewhere, I missed it - honestly.
The U.S. didn't even
have any immigration laws to speak of until 1917 and our current system of regulating immigration didn't exist until 1952. For nearly two hundred years, our immigration policy was "Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free... " and all it did was make the United States an economic and political superpower. Perhaps you can explain to me why those laws were so horrible and why the laws now are so wonderful that there is no reason to even talk about changing them.
