My "old" X3 which was prewired for sat radio, and had no nav had the wires in the centre console, as does my current X3 which has nav and sat radio. The Sirius and Nav cables are in the trunk on the driver's side.

Correct, they will source from the center console, the SA693 package extends the wiring to the cargo area where the Sirius reciever would be.
