Thanks for the feedback everyone. I'm quite excited about getting back into photography as a hobby. It's been a while since I've taken photos outside of vacation and family event snapshots.
It use to be a lot simpler back in the days of manual focus and 35 mm film. During the first few days of using my new camera I spent at least 5 minutes mucking with settings for every 5 seconds it took me to compose and take a shot.
The new DSLR's certainly give you more than enough rope to hang yourself.
