It has been my experience when dealing with members of the public, that you deal with what you are confronted by. We call it, 'THE ATTITUDE TEST' When I was in a situation where I had discretion (ie minor matter) then the attitude of the offender would in all likelihood dictate the outcome. I have found over the years that officers do not like to talk to members of the public off duty about their job as they only ever get told about the facts supporting the complainant. In this instance, an officer has seen someone performing burnouts on private property. He has a duty to intervene on behalf of the owner and community. Instead of identifying that it was your own property and thanking the officer for doing his job, accepting the fact that you were disturbing the peace and having a general chat about it, you appear to have been extremely arrogant by ordering the officer off your property. Whilst you are quite within your rights to do so, I have to ask if it was really necessary, or even reasonable for you to take that attitude? You have made a situation where an officer was doing his job into a pi:?%ing contest and neither of you are going to win. I am sure you will deny/justify your position (we as humans ALWAYS justify our actions) but I cannot believe that any reasonable person just starts a war for no reason........
