We have a 2003 Sports as well as the 4.8. The sports ride is very harsh until you get used to it. When we first bought it, I actually looked into swapping the suspension back to standard as the ride was so harsh, and our baby boy would never sleep in his seat.

After looking at all sorts of solutions, I eventually added extra foam padding into his seat and the problem was solved.

Our 3.0 has the Michelin Diamaris tyres on them. We recently had a destroyed tyre (another story) and were considering another brand as the stock was not available for 3 months.

There are plenty of tyres around in the sizes but only a few with the profiles and speed/laod ratings of the OEM. In the end we opted to stay with the Michelins, as the ride is more reliant on the suspension and damping than the tyres.

To my knowledge, no X5 is fitted with run flats yet......
