Could be a real story. The future Mrs. JV is Polish, came here when she was 10, still has plenty of family there and visits often, but she's all but lost the sexy accent. Damn. Anyhow, her uncle is a BMW man, driving a 7 series now.
He told her the "black market" price for an X5 in PL is more than the price for a 7 series. Very coveted vehicle over there because you simply can't get one. Whoever stole it can fence it for some mad loot, but a ransom makes sense, because if you're thinking about driving an X5 around in Poland, you're gonna stick out like a narc at a biker rally. Waiting for a police investigation to close in Poland is akin to waiting on the Devil to serve ice water.

Sad to hear about anyone getting their car stolen, whatever make and model it is.
