if u have dificulty gaining acceptance in u're state then move to texas and become a resident.. when i applied there were 2100 applicants for 1300 spots(7 schools). texas is also cheaper .. my tuition was $300 dollars a year, yea no shit.. During my 1st year they started to raise the tuition and i believe it is in the $7 k range now..

Also minoritys recieve preferential treatment.. when i was applying any mcat around 40 would gain acceptance for a minority.. Some schools even recruit out of state minoritys (utah is an example). u can apply to texas schools as an out of state student but to be accepted u have to be in the top 2-3% of applicants..All the medical schools in texas and the usa are excellent for that matter...Also u're choice of medical school does not greatly influence u're acceptance into residency... u're rank in the class( AOA is helpful) and recommendations are more important than what med school one attended...

Why pay $25-30 k a year in tuition for an east coast school when the same education can be had for less...

Also sometimes smaller schools provide more hands on than a larger prestigous school because as a student at a smaller school u do not have to fight off residents to do procedures...As a 4th year student i was intubating and putting in lines in the Amarillo VA.
