I know that in the E90 if you don't get nav you don't get the screen. A retrofit would be insanely cost prohibitive.
Go drive an E90 325 and an Audi A4. You'll feel which one you like better. If you do go with Audi, go CPO. The resale on Audis is not good. I would rule out most of the Japanese options. They just don't feel like a BMW as not much if anything does. You'll be impressed with the E90.
I'd skip the X3 since you had an X5. It'll probably feel a little strange after having had an X5 and it sounds like you're over having a SUV/SAV.
