Simplistic, but bascially true, imo.

I must admit to having done a lot of miles sans helmet during our coast to coast to coast rides; but, the far western states are pretty empty of cars and some cruising where only one's skills or, an occas. pronghorn or wandering beef cow were the enemy, allowed for one's choice in non-traffic situs. Most of the time I had it on: reduces dehydration, cooler, eye protection, UV protection and I could listen to tunes and the truckers in my helmet speakers.

I'm sorta on the side of let the states decide, but cruising in traffic on your 'Busa, lidless, may be "cool", but the drivers simply do not see us, or care when they do.

Hope he's ok...but, pretty dumb decision. A full face lid would have reduced those facial injuries considerably, imo. And, he wears a top level helmet when he works...
