Maintained value

Very strange how the same car has varying retained value in different countries. In the UK the X5 has one of the highest retained values after 3 years than any other car on the market. It has only just dropped from 72% to 70% due to the new model coming out. The only other car in the UK to match that is the Mini Cooper S cabriolet which retains 72% after 3 years. It is the only reason we were able to afford the payments (contract hire) due to the deferred amount being so big (offset). Average retained values in the UK run at 50 - 55% for VW's down to 40 - 50% for Fiats and Citroens (all based on 3 yrs running 10 - 12000 miles a year). Diesels have higher retained values than their petrol counterparts due in part to the lower pollution output, longevity and better fuel consumption. And no, the petrol X5's don't retain their value as well as the diesels.
