Reminder: This thread raised the question of spending for homeland security, and the original rebuttal was in sympathy of the issue, but with the caveat that the flow of taxpayer dollars have both rhyme and reason.
Before you attack the logic of profiling, do some research on the security methodology of Israel's El Al airlines.

Look at the bombing of the USS Cole. That ship and those sailors are the same ones that keep the shipping lanes open--the same ones that delivered your Range Rover, and the fuel to run it.
The next time the USS Cole is in San Diego, try approaching it at high speed in a boat. Your boat, now considered a threat, will not be allowed to approach. That's called profiling. Why should an angry jihadi approaching a subway turnstile in NYC be treated any differently? Think.
