INViSiON Comfort Seat Headrest Monitors

After months of searching for the headrest monitors for comfort seats in truffle brown leather, I have finally found the solution, Invision Industries Revolution II. That's right, comfort seats in Truffle Brown can be accomplished or even other colours exclusive to comfort seats. After comparing Invision to the only competition, Audiovox in the comfort seat realm, Invision has the Audiovox beat in quality never mind that Audiovox can not do truffle brown.

Let's get to the details....the good.

Turnaround time and installation. Due to the leather, these are custom orders. From the time the order was placed at my dealership, the headrests arrived inside 1 week. The install at the dealership was smooth and quick.

Flexibity in use. My kids can watch the same video on both screens or different DVD's in each player. I can even use the video out cable on my 5G iPod and feed that to the inputs on the front of either monitor.

Screen quality. I used to have Vizualogic in my Jeep (they just happen to OEM for some big name German SUV maker as well) and I can say these screens are much butter.

Total integration look. The leather matches perfectly, why not...it's BMW leather.

Sounds qualiy from headphones. They have a nice 40mm driver in the headphones so they sound great...no static.

FM Modulation. Usually I would say this is a bad thing. Anyone who has used one for an iPod knows what I am talking about. It does work well to hear the video over the car's stereo.

On to the "to be improved" ( I can't use bad)

Control from the front. If you have young kids who can't operate a remote, it is extremely difficult to control the videos from the front. The IR from the remote is not strong enough to bounce off the roof the catch the ir sensor at the top of the monitor. A remote mounted ir sensor in the front ashtray would be great. This is where using an iPod works really well to control and feed video to the monitors.

DVD insertion. Due to the nature of the high backs on the comfort seats and the replacement headrests are much bigger then stock, it can be difficult to remove the DVD from the player if you have your seat up high. The DVD slides into the top of the headrest.

There has been great debate about the channel to purchase this product. Lawrence at Invision is second to none (maybe even Tom @ EAS) in terms of follow-up. Literally 5 minutes after placing the order with my dealer, he called me to confirm the details. Price is always a concern.....GRIND your dealer on the price...I did and got a great deal that was WAY cheaper then the BMW option. Use whatever tactic you can. You should be able to get at least 15% off MSRP.

So far after two short road trips, my kids have enjoyed them and my wife and I loved the peace and quiet. One really long road trip this summer will be the true test. My only word of advice, don't get them as a birthday present for your wife...it doesn't go over well....trust me on that!
