Cellphone Carrier/BT Compatability?

Hi all,

I am continuing to research the BT issue for my '04 3.0i. In looking at the BMW BT Upgrade Module, "BTUM," (a V60-shaped BT module that plugs into the existing CPT9000 slot and allows full BT functionality in cars so equipped...like mine, for example), I found it has the compatability listing shown below:

Bluetooth Phone List:
-Motorola e815............................Verizon Wireless
-Motorola V3c Razor ....................Verizon Wireless
-Motorola V3 Razor.......................Cingular/T-mobile
-Motorola V551............................Cingular/T-mobile
-Motorola V330 ...........................Cingular/T-mobile
-Nokia 6230.................................Cingular
-Sony Ericsson T637.....................Cingular
-Sony Ericsson S710a ...................Cingular

My questions are:

1) I currently carry a Moto V555i GSM w/ Cellular One (Dobson) for work. I think it's virtually the same as the V551 referenced above with Cingular/T-Mobile. Do I need the EXACT phone (i.e. V551) with either listed carrier in order for it to work in my X5 if I pick up a BTUM for it?

2) Does it really matter which carrier I choose for my cellphone to use the BT/BTUM functionality in my X5? If so, am I limited to the carriers shown above? I know that I can dial out now with my CPT9000 (sans V60 phone) and I get a U.S. Cellular error message. This tells me that the car is dialing out with the BMW Assist phone, right? And it tells me that the prior owner had his service through U.S. Cellular?

3) My personal digital phone service is carried through U.S. Cellular. If I pair two phones, do they need to be using the same cellular carrier?

I apologize in advance for what may be dumb questions, but I'm still working through the research and trying to determine which way to go. Thanks for your help!

Mike
