1. I think your phone will work.

2. The BMW Assist is a separate analog phone inside the car, that is not set up to allow you to make calls to anyone except BMW Assist. They may well be using US Cellular, but that should have nothing to do with your personal cell phone situation. It also does not mean anything about the prior owner's cell phone.

3. Different paired phones can use differerent carriers.
