I just got done with the resume affair two months ago...it really depends on whether you have any prior work experience in this field or not. For the first internship, I mentioned the obvious stuff, school major, classes taken, one or two highschool jobs (polishing up the positions as much as possible, lol). On the first resume, since you don't have prior work experience, you need to highlight extra-curriculars, personal qualities, diversity, etc etc. Show them that you are a well-rounded person, ready for problem-solving and gear it towards to specific position you're applying for.

The second internship, I had two semesters worth of experience. One still needs to mention all the stuff mentioned above, but on this one the experience is the focus. Projects you worked on, pick the important ones (ones that had real value), how did they contribute to the company..what was the problem, who did it involve, solution, etc, VALUE-ADD.

Mention you goals for the internship...I want so and so experience from this and at the same time want to contribute to the company, etc etc.

*All what I mentioned not neccessarily in that order and...NOT MORE THAN ONE PAGE!!

It's hard to give all specifics. If you wish, when I get home I can send you my first resume and second, for reference. It's pretty late for an internship now unless you're shooting for something fall semester. Summer internships should be applied for no later than April, and that's a bit late.

Build a network of contacts when you work, ask as many questions as you can. Be pals with everyone/ get to know a lot of people in many positions. You will gain a lot more by taking initiative. Often, a lot of the knowledge I learnt was outside of my core work, just through talking with people who have experience. Your communication with others is as important as your performance.

GL and let us know if there's anything we can do to help!
