Even though the E70 represents the next evolutionary step for BMW's hallmark SAV, I think the old E53 model is a classic design that can stand the test of time, similar to the E36 and E46 models, especially those that are personalized by their owners. If anything, the older Bimmers carry that characteristic more so than the newly models.

Obviously there are technological advancements with the new E70 that that are of interest and will certainly help to sell the new vehicle, but again, the developments are of an evolutionary, as opposed to revolutionary nature. But judging the new vehicle strictly on from the standpoint of exterior styling, it's not much of a change. If maintained and enhanced, the E53's can still be a very impressive vehicle.

I don't think my E53 is going to be suddenly obsolete with the introduction of the E70. I'm certainly going to try to prevent that from happening with some very judicious upgrades of my own.

A couple of bimmer classics that will always be classics forever...
